2024 skin update.
It's crazy. I started this blog when I was 21. I'll be 30 this year. And it's been a hell of a ride. But I can confidently say, my skin is something I don't think about much anymore. I've gotten three CO2 laser treatments, micro needling, smooth glow laser treatments. Albeit expensive, but so worth it. But despite all the treatments my scars are still there and I'm still very acne prone. Having acne has been a blessing and curse. You have to learn to love yourself all over again and i was already dealing with low self esteem when I first got it. But over time I've learned to accept myself and reframed my thinking. I take good care of my skin and I guarantee I probably wouldn't have if I didn't go through this. Acne is normal and nothing to be ashamed of. For any of those who've been here from the beginning or stumbled upon this blog along the way, thank you for being here and I hope this blog helps anyone who's struggling with the same thing. You are so so beautiful and acne will never take away from your beauty. You will always be beautiful to me no matter.
Take care 🩵

안녕하세요 cutie patooties! Today I’m going to go over my hand care routine, both daily and weekly ^-^ hand care is so important and although you don’t necessarily need to do these things, I love doing it to keep my hands so soft and youthful <3
Let’s give these precious little paws the love and care they deserve with a super kawaii hand care routine! Here’s how to pamper your hands and keep them irresistibly soft and charming every day! 🎀✨
Morning Hand care routine ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡
Exfoliate and cleanse ✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。°✩
Exfoliation is a vital step in your morning routine to keep your hands looking and feeling silky smooth. I usually use my hello kitty scrub cause it’s hydrating too <3
Serum ✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。°✩
Serums can be a game-changer in maintaining youthful and radiant hands. Look for a serum specifically formulated for hands, packed with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or vitamin C to boost hydration and combat signs of aging.
After Cleansing: Once your hands are cleansed and exfoliated, take a small amount of your preferred kawaii hand serum onto your fingertips. Dot the serum onto the back of one hand, then gently massage it into both hands using upward motions, focusing on areas that may show signs of aging or dryness.
Hand Cream ✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。°✩
Using a nourishing hand cream in your morning routine is essential for maintaining soft, hydrated, and youthful-looking hands throughout the day. Look for a hand cream enriched with hydrating ingredients like shea butter, glycerin, or almond oil for maximum moisture.
SPF ✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。°✩
Don’t forget to extend your sunscreen application to your hands! UV rays can cause premature aging, dark spots, and skin damage, making it crucial to apply a dedicated hand-specific SPF.
Hand care tips <3
Regular Hydration: Keep your hands hydrated throughout the day by applying hand cream frequently, especially after washing your hands, to prevent dryness.
Gentle Cleansing: Use mild, moisturizing hand washes or cleansers to cleanse your hands without stripping away natural oils.
Sun Protection: Apply a hand-specific SPF daily to shield your hands from harmful UV rays and prevent premature aging and sun damage.
Cuticle Care: Nourish and moisturize your cuticles regularly with cuticle oil or cream to maintain healthy, neat-looking nails.
Exfoliation: Incorporate gentle exfoliation once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and reveal smoother hands.
Wear Gloves: Protect your hands from harsh chemicals, cold weather, or household chores by wearing gloves to maintain their softness.
Balanced Diet: Consume a diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants to promote overall skin health, benefiting your hands as well.
Stay Hydrated: Drink enough water daily to keep your skin, including your hands, properly hydrated from the inside out.
Avoid Harsh Soaps: Steer clear of harsh soaps or sanitizers that may dry out your hands excessively, causing irritation.
Until next time jellybeans <3

Japanese sunscreen appreciation post ⛱️🌤
•Biore Athlizm Skin Protect Essence
•Nivea Japan UV Super Water Gel EX
•Kose Suncut Prodefense Toughness UV Sunscreen
•Sekkisei Clear Wellness UV Defense Milk
•Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel
•OMI Verdio UV Moisture Gel
I feel that J-Beauty sunscreens don't get as much love on here as their K-beauty counterparts. And I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they include denatured alcohol/ethanol in them. It acts as a thinning agent to make them more texturally elegant and also helps them dry down sooner. And outside of user benefits, it's also a very good preservative to keep your sunscreen stable. Plus, it actually can be used as a penetrating ingredient for the active ingredients or hydrating ingredients depending on formulation.
I won't deny that products with alcohol can cause dehydration for some depending on the formuation. But many of the studies done are misquoted: they used a much higher concentration of alcohol than is ever used in skincare, or were used on in vitro studies on plain cells which don't act the same way our skin does, or the cell plates were contained and the alcohol was not able to evaporate like it would regularly. 97% of the alcohol in any skin product evaporates. So, if facial skincare products only use around 5-10% alcohol in it, you're left with <0.3% of the original content once it evaporates.
I think many people get into this mindset of demonizing certain ingredients for everyone, rather than realizing that it's just a personal ingredient sensitivity they face. I'm all for warning people of potential irritation triggers, as I'll mention potential irritating ingredients in some of my personal reviews. But I'm very tired of people saying products are bad because they have ingredients that don't work for them personally, rather than reviewing it and determining their user experience is bad. How can you say something you've never used is bad?

Hi guys,
I was shopping in Oxford Street a few weeks ago and while I was browsing John Lewis, I noticed an Elizabeth Arden pop up shop! At the pop up shop they were showing customers their new and bestselling retinol products. The lady hosting the space was amazing she talked me through all the products and gave me some samples of products to try based on my skin type. Currently these products are sold exclusively through John Lewis so let's chat about the products!
The first sample I was given was the Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Ceramide Rapid Skin-Renewing Water Cream, £75.00. The lady first used this cream on my hand to show the radiance of my skin and then after hearing my skin concerns she said this cream would be a good match for me. This cream can be used as a day and night cream and is formulated with pure retinol plus HPR, a next-generation retinol, skin-firming peptides, moisture barrier-strengthening ceramides, plumping hyaluronic acid and skin-soothing botanicals. The cream is designed to hydrate, brighten, smooth and clarify skins texture. Now that is a lot of claims for a moisturiser but since it is a high end product and price range I would personally want it to do a lot for my skin if I'm paying £75.00.
The second sample was the Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Ceramide Capsules Serum, x 60 Capsules, £83.00. I had seen this product all around tik tok and beauty blogs for a long time but have never seen the capsules in person. In a full sized bottle you get 60 capsule serums to use and the lady kindly gave me a few different capsules since there are different versions of the serum for different skin types which was so sweet of her! Though I feel like I would get more use out of a bottle of serum rather than capsules, the capsules are fun to open. This specific serum is meant to leave skin looking radiant and revitalised. The serum states that after one week of use , wrinkles and pores are visibly reduced, skin feels firmer, and tone and texture are improved. Each pre-measured capsule is formulated with a precise blend dose of pure retinol plus HPR, a next-generation retinol, moisture barrier-strengthening ceramides, skin-firming peptides, and soothing botanicals.
While I am so excited to try out these prouducts and use them I probably won't be buying the full sized products due to the price but it is fun to experiment wtih different brands an see what they have to offer. I am very aware that this brand isn't in everyone's price range but if you are interested as always all products mentioned are linked above.
Lot's of love,
Bella x x

The Benefits of Natural Beauty Products
Hey there, fabulous manes and luscious locks! Welcome to my hair care haven, where we're going to talk all about one of our biggest hair concerns: preventing hair loss. Whether you've noticed a few extra strands in the shower drain or you're just proactive about your hair health, I've got your back! Let's dive into some hair-saving tips that will keep your tresses looking their best.
Hair-Strengthening Products
But before we begin, let's explore some hair-strengthening products that can work wonders for your mane.
Healthy Scalp, Happy Hair
Let's start at the root of the matter—your scalp! A healthy scalp sets the stage for flourishing hair.
1. Gentle Scalp Massage: Treat yourself to a gentle scalp massage whenever you can. Not only is it a relaxing experience, but it also improves blood circulation, promoting hair growth and overall scalp health.
2. Scalp-Care Shampoo: Invest in a scalp-care shampoo that's specifically designed to nourish your scalp and keep it flake-free. A happy scalp means happy hair!
Nourish from Within
Now that we've got our scalp covered, let's talk about nourishing our hair from within.
1. Healthy Diet: You are what you eat, and so is your hair! A balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins provides essential nutrients that promote hair health. So, load up on those leafy greens and delicious proteins!
2. Stay Hydrated: Don't forget to stay hydrated! Drinking plenty of water not only benefits your overall health but also keeps your hair looking shiny and happy. Hydration is key!
Hair Growth Supplements
Looking for some extra support for your hair growth journey? Check out these hair growth supplements that might just become your new best friends!
Be Gentle with Your Tresses
Handle your hair with tender loving care. Avoid harsh treatments and styles that can stress out your strands.
1. Gentle Styling: Embrace gentle hair styling techniques that minimize tugging and pulling. Be kind to your tresses—they'll thank you for it!
2. Limit Heat Styling: Heat styling can be fun, but it can also cause damage. Try to limit the use of heat tools and always use a heat protectant when you do style. Your hair will appreciate the break!
Stress Less, Love More
Stress can take a toll on our overall health, including our hair. Practice stress-reducing activities like yoga, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. Your hair will love the positive vibes!
And there you have it, my hair-loving friends! Your ultimate guide to preventing hair loss and maintaining a healthy, happy mane. Remember, every strand is a part of your unique beauty, so let's show our hair some extra love and care. Here's to fabulous hair days ahead!
Disclaimer: Rest assured that I only recommend products and resources that I personally find valuable and relevant to hair care.

CAN YOU MOISTURIZE YOUR SKIN TOO MUCH?
Moisturizer helps keep your skin hydrated and refreshed. It can also reduce the risk of many skin concerns, like extreme dryness or oiliness, fine lines etc. But is it possible to moisturize your skin too much? The short answer is YES, but not as you expect.
Why are we moisturizing the skin in the first place?
Moisturizers help our skin in terms of reducing water loss and keeping irritants out, but isn’t that the job of our skin in the first place? The answer is YES, it is.
How does the skin do that?
Well skin the outermost layer is called the Stratum Corneum. It’s essentially composed of dead skin cells called Corneocytes. There are specialized proteins in between the Corneocytes called Cornea Desmosomes that rivet between them and, with time, degrade. Which allows for shedding of the Corneocytes and that’s what exfoliation basically is.
Microanatomy of stratum corneum depicting the layers of epidermis. From: Sehgal, Virendra. (2018). The impact of microanatomy and changing physiology of stratum corneum the skin barrier on evolution of atopic dermatitis. A visual representation to better explain how you can moisturize your skin too much.
Microanatomy of stratum corneum depicting the layers of epidermis. From: Sehgal, Virendra. (2018). The impact of microanatomy and changing physiology of stratum corneum the skin barrier on evolution of atopic dermatitis.
Now, when the water content of that outer layer drops, that can lead to dry heaped up skin cells. And ultimately impair the health of your skin barrier.
You’ve also got lipids that seal in water and keep irritating things out. Within that milieu, you also have hydroscopic factors that bind water and hold it in place. That’s referred to as natural moisturizing factors.
It’d be all well and good if we weren’t exposed to a lot of things that eat away at that protective layer. Detergent that we are encounter with washing our hands, cleansing cosmetics, makeup, dirt, impurities, pollutants, and all sorts of things settle on the surface of the skin. That protective layer can become more and more damaged, and you can start losing more water.
When our moisture barrier is impaired, we lose more water from the skin. Making us more prone to irritation, acne flares, redness, and all sorts of skin problems.
How does moisturizer work?
Moisturizers employ two strategies:
• The first strategy is to increase the water content in the Stratum Corneum (remember that outermost layer of your skin?) through the inclusion of hydroscopic ingredients. Namely things like Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid that bind water. This way, they kind of mimic your skin’s natural moisturizing factors.
• The second strategy behind moisturizers is to deposit a water-soluble oily substance on the surface of the skin. Which kind of mimics the skin’s intracellular lipids. That’ll trap water in there, and ultimately prevent water loss. Those ingredients are known as occlusives and one of my favorites is Petrolatum. Why? Because it can reduce water loss out of the skin by 99%.
Moisturizers help address the needs of the skin barrier and everyone can benefit from that, including people who have oily skin.
Can you moisturize your skin too much?
Can you have too much moisture in the skin? The short answer is YES, but it’s not likely because you are using a moisturizer.
There is a tipping point where you can have too much hydration in the Stratum Corneum. And there are quite a few conditions in which that occurs.
The first situation that comes to mind is diaper rash. You must think I’m out of my mind for even bringing up diapers in a blogpost about skincare but hear me out! Diaper rash happens because you have a moist environment in the diaper that overly hydrate the skin. Naturally, the end result is losing even more water and compromising your skin barrier. But there is another situation where a similar process takes place. One that I’m sure you’ve experienced, maskne.
Interestingly enough the remedy for both of these situations is to use an occlusive moisturizer to act as a barrier to water loss, and to prevent friction and further irritation so that your your skin can heal and recover.
The same thing can also happen in anywhere where you have skin on skin contact (e.g. under the armpits, abdominal folds etc.)
Can too much moisturizer make your skin oilier?
That is not true, too much moisturizer will not make your skin oilier. Oil production is governed by your hormones. Which means that it won’t be influenced by putting moisturizer on your skin.
How much moisturizer is too much?
I am hesitant to say that you can’t overdo it with moisturizer because I know there will be inevitably someone out there who goes overboard. Someone that will be putting on moisturizer every minute of the day. And yes that is excessive, and you certainly can always overdo anything. So I’m not advocating for the excessive use of moisturizer.
What I will always encourage people to do is use a moisturizer after cleansing. Because the cleansing action can disrupt some of the lipid barrier, and a moisturizer can help reduce water loss out of the skin. Naturally, if you wash your face twice a day, you should be using a moisturizer twice a day.
If you have eczema or some other dry skin condition. Then you may benefit from putting on moisturizer again at some other point in the day.
When it comes to hands, you can definitely get away with reapplying moisturizer more frequently. Because we wash our hands more often, we are constantly stripping them of moisture. So using a lot of occlusive moisturizer to the hands is recommended.
Conclusion
You can certainly moisturize your skin too much, but it most likely won’t be because of a moisturizer.
I hope you enjoyed this post! It’s an excerpt of this blogpost on my website ;) See you soon~
